Lauren Foreman

CNM

Lauren Foreman was born and raised in Maryland. She graduated from Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in 2012. While in nursing school, she began her career as a labor doula and served women in the DC and Baltimore area for over seven years. Her first exposure to birth ignited her passion for birth. Lauren worked as a pediatric emergency room and inpatient nurse in Baltimore for 8 years. Her nursing and doula experience, interaction with midwives, as well as her passion for caring for women and their new families, spurred her to continue her education to support women by becoming a midwife.

She completed her Master of Science in Nursing at George Washington University and her midwifery postgraduate certificate at Shenandoah University. During her training, she had the opportunity of attending women’s births at George Washington University with the GW midwives, a freestanding birth center and home birth practice in southern California, and a freestanding birth center and hospital practice
in Maryland. After graduating, Lauren worked as a hospital midwife in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for a year. Although this job gave her an abundance of experience, it solidified her desire to be an out of hospital midwife. She then moved back to her hometown and worked at a freestanding birth center in Newark, DE.

She recently relocated to Austin with her partner and is excited to support women and their families at Natural Beginnings Birth Center. Her passion is out of hospital birth, delving more into alternative medicine knowledge, and perinatal mood disorders. She has completed Postpartum Support International’s Perinatal Mood Disorder Training and Karen Kleinman’s The Art of Holding Perinatal Women in Distress Post Graduate Professional Training Program to enhance her knowledge and ability to serve women. Her approach to care is true, informed consent and evidence based empowering care. In her free time Lauren loves to travel, read, run, cook, and spend time with her family.
